Yim Tin Tsai – The Trip

by Max Kong

by Max Kong

This project uses QR codes to establish a virtual guide across Yim Tin Tsai-island off the coast of Sai Kung.

Objectives
1. To support visitors in their individual explorations on Yim Tin Tsai;
2. To enhance the visit through additional information (videos etc.) on site;
3. To entertain the visitors.

Target audience
This project aims at individual visitors without tour affiliation or guide, who nevertheless are interested to informally retrieve specific site-specific information at their own pace.

QR code
Each QR code is designed specifically for one location. All together there are 12 videos covering 12 track points on Yim Tin Tsai.

The videos are kept in a vintage look to emphasise their historical content. All videos start as exactly the same view as the audience standing in front of the QR code markers, to reproduce an overlapping effect of the video with reality. The video is accompanied by a sound narration.

Further Development
Additional smartphone applications to further enhance the audience experience, for example by integrating games. Development of further walking routes with alternative narratives in different tone and style.
