Getting Lost

by Foon Lee

In my project, I am trying to disorder the existing rules of spatial perception by setting up a virtual closed environment, which allows the player to have an experience of “getting lost”.

This virtual environment requires two devices: an iPhone, and a set of video glasses. The user wears the video glasses (with inbuilt earphones), which connect to the iPhone. The user will thenwatch a short animation (3 minutes) including an audio guide with instructions for the user.

The user is asked by the audio instructions to track the correct object with his eyes:

– The word “Orange” in red colour;

– The word “Green” in blue colour;

– The word “Red” in orange colour;

– The word “Blue” in green colour… etc.

By mixing up the colours – or in other cases the shapes – and the wording, the user is gradually dis-oriented and confused.
