Curriculum

The curriculum for the MVA (Experience Design) consists of the following list of courses, all of which are required:

 

Specialised Courses*

VAED7100 Narrative Aesthetics (6 credits)
VAED7200 Scenographic Contexts (6 credits)

* ‘Specialised Courses’ are courses within the curriculum that are unique to the specific concentration. They are always taught as ‘double-courses’ bearing 6 credit-units.

 

Shared Courses*

VASC7100 Research Practice for the Visual Arts (3 credits)
VASC7200 Professional Practice for the Visual Arts (3 credits)
VASC7300 Interdisciplinary Practice for the Visual Arts (3 credits)

* ‘Shared Courses’ are courses within the curriculum that are shared between all five concentrations of the MVA-programme.

 

Independent Studies

VAED7300 Master Project (6 credits)

 

Intensive Summer Workshop (non-credit-bearing)

Every summer AVA will offer a set of 4–6 studio-workshops in various disciplines of which every MVA-student needs to choose and complete one. In 2012 these courses included Art Writing, Ceramics, Glass-Blowing, and Lens-Based Media.

 

Scheduling

Usually a student will have to take one course per trimester, alternating between Shared and Specialised Courses:

VASC7100 Research Practice for the Visual Arts (3 credits)

Year 1, Term 2
VAED7100 Narrative Aesthetics (6 credits)

Year 1, Term 3
VASC7200 Professional Practice for the Visual Arts (3 credits)
Intensive Summer Workshop (0 credits)

 

Year 2, Term 1
VAED7200 Scenographic Contexts (6 credits)

Year 2, Term 2
VASC7300 Interdisciplinary Practice for the Visual Arts (3 credits)

Year 2, Term 3
