Michael Leung is a designer, beekeeper and urban farmer. He was born in London and graduated from Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication, London. After graduating, Michael moved to Amsterdam for an internship with Droog Design, under the direction of Gijs Bakker.

In 2009, Michael moved to Hong Kong where he completed the Masters of Design Practices course at The School of Design. He has since been focusing on socio-cultural and environmental projects, all of which collaborate with different communities in Hong Kong. His work ranges from conceptual objects for people who have passed away to urban agriculture projects such as HK Honey, HK Farm and HK Salt.

With Martin Cheung, Michael setup Shanghai Street Studios in 2011, which is a creative platform that engages the Yau Ma Tei community through neighbourhood-inspired projects and urban interventions. Michael has also worked with international and local organisations such as Brooklyn Grange Rooftop Farm, Amnesty International Hong Kong and Mido Cafe.

After teaching at Ravensbourne College and The School of Design (2010 to present day), Michael joins the MVA Experience Design faculty, where he shares his hands-on approach to design, art and design methodologies with local organisations/advocates, and commitment in community-led placemaking.
